LightWELD 2000 XR

LightWELD 2000 XR Handheld Laser Welding & Cleaning System

LightWELD 2000 XR is the top model of IPG's handheld line, welding steel and 3 and 5 series aluminum up to about 8 mm (0 gauge) and doing pre-weld and post-weld laser cleaning with the same gun. Built-in presets cover the material range, wobble welding bridges wider seams, and filler wire can be added. The same source also drives IPG's LightWELD Cobot System for repetitive jobs.

Where it fits

The LightWELD 2000 XR suits a metal shop welding steel and 3 or 5 series aluminum up to about 8 mm, where wobble welding bridges wider seams and the same gun also does pre- and post-weld cleaning without a tool change. Being air-cooled keeps the setup simpler than a chiller-based system, which matters for a shop without space or plumbing for water cooling. Built-in presets across the material range help a shop with varied jobs and less specialized welding staff get consistent results faster. A shop wanting to automate the same source into a repeatable production cell can pair it with IPG's own Cobot System rather than staying fully handheld.

Confirm before you order

  • Confirm electrical supply and weight with a distributor, since IPG's own page omits these figures
  • Check cleaning width (up to 0.600 in) against the surface prep the shop's welds actually need
  • Verify aluminum series and gauge match the 3, 5 or 6 series capacity limits published
