About SafanDarley
SafanDarley is a Dutch builder of press brakes and shears, with its head office and production plant in Lochem and a second branch in Eijsden. It was formed in 2012 by merging two long-established Dutch firms: Safan, created in 1960 when five manufacturers pooled their business, and Darley, founded in 1934. The company has about 200 staff and belongs to Nivora Holding, set up to keep the know-how and jobs in the Netherlands.
SafanDarley is closely linked with the servo-electric press brake: in 1995 Safan secured a patent for the servo-electric drive of its E-Brake, and the E-Brake family now runs from 35T to 300T. The range also includes hydraulic and hybrid press brakes (H-iBrake and H-Brake HD), M-Shear and V-Shear guillotine shears, bending automation such as the Mini Cell, Multi Cell and R-Brake, and offline 3D programming software.
We list three SafanDarley machines. The E-Brake 40-1600 is a compact 40 t (44 US ton), 1.5 m (60 in) fully electric press brake for fast small-part bending, and the H-iBrake 400T-4200 is a 400 t (441 US ton), 4.2 m (167 in) hybrid-hydraulic machine for heavy plate. Both are in our press brakes, and the hydraulic vs electric press brake comparison explains the difference. The M-Shear 430-16 is a 4.3 m (14 ft) CNC guillotine shear for 16 mm (5/8 in) mild steel.
A good fit for
- Sheet metal shops bending many small, precise parts at high speed
- Heavy plate fabricators needing long, high-tonnage bends
- Shops planning automated bending cells
