Windmöller & Hölscher Made in Germany

VAREX II

VAREX II

Each VAREX II is configured to order from a modular set of extruders, dies and winders. One line can cover food-contact and non-food consumer packaging, industrial film, and specialties such as barrier, sticky, MDO-stretched and very wide film. W&H cites 8 µm HDPE liner film and 11-layer barrier film with a 1 µm EVOH layer as examples, and the line is run through the procontrol operating system.

Where it fits

VAREX II is aimed at a converter that needs one platform to cover several product lines, from simple mono-layer liner film to nine or eleven layer barrier structures with EVOH, since W&H builds each unit from a modular set of extruders, dies and winders. That flexibility makes sense for a plant supplying multiple customers or markets rather than one running a single fixed product, and the die and line-width range (160 to 900 mm die, 1.3 to 3.6 m line width) covers everything from narrow specialty film to wide consumer packaging. A converter with one stable product and no plans to diversify would find a fixed-configuration line more cost-effective.

Confirm before you order

  • Confirm the exact extruder count, layer structure and winder type quoted for your product mix
  • Check output rate for your target film gauge, since W&H does not publish one fixed figure
  • Verify die diameter matches your intended lay-flat width before finalizing the configuration
