About SCM
SCM Group is an Italian industrial group headquartered in Rimini. It was founded in 1952 to build woodworking machinery and describes itself as a family company with a long-term view. The group has since added machinery for composites, plastics, glass, stone and metal through its CMS division, and it makes its own components, including spindles, electrical cabinets, metal fabrications and iron castings.
The woodworking side, sold under the SCM name, covers the main machines used in panel and solid wood shops: CNC machining centres, edge banders, beam saws, drilling machines, wide belt sanders, finishing lines, presses and classic joinery machines. Many lines carry heritage names such as morbidelli, gabbiani, minimax and stefani. SCM says its three main production centres in Italy build more than 17,000 machines a year.
Three SCM machines are in our range. The morbidelli m100 is a modular machining centre with a 5-axis routing head and up to 44 tool places, listed with our CNC routers. The olimpic 500 is a single-sided edge bander running at 12 m/min. The gabbiani s is a single-blade beam saw in 3,200, 3,800 and 4,500 mm cutting lengths. For planning a full shop, see our cabinet shop machine guide.
A good fit for
- Cabinet and furniture plants that want CNC, edge banding and panel sizing from one maker
- Growing shops moving from manual saws to beam saws and nesting
- Solid wood and panel shops that need 5-axis routing
