About Martin

Otto Martin Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG, known by its brand MARTIN, is a German woodworking machine builder in Ottobeuren, in the Allgäu region of southern Germany. It is not related to other companies that share the Martin name. The firm was founded in 1922 and marked its centenary in 2022. It builds its machines at the Ottobeuren site, employs about 160 people and reports that more than 65% of its annual output is exported, to over 70 countries.

MARTIN concentrates on stationary machines for joinery and cabinet shops: sliding table saws such as the T66 and T77, surface planers, thicknessing planers, spindle moulders and sanding machines. The company says it has delivered more than 74,000 machines of 60 different types since 1948, and it runs an apprenticeship programme well above the German average.

From MARTIN we list the T66, a compact sliding table saw with stepless SynchroDrive blade speed, a blade that tilts right to 46 degrees and format cuts up to 3,310 x 3,700 mm. It appears with our other panel saws, and our comparison of sliding table saws and beam saws explains when a manual format saw is the better choice.

A good fit for

  • Cabinet and joinery shops cutting a wide mix of panels and solid wood by hand
  • Shops that need accurate format and mitre cuts without a beam saw's footprint
  • Furniture makers cutting veneered and coated panels one at a time
