About Felder

Johann Felder and his wife Gertraud founded the company in 1956 in Absam, Tyrol, and presented their first woodworking machines at trade fairs in Vienna and Innsbruck the same year. In 1982 the business moved, with 65 employees, to a new headquarters in Hall in Tirol, Austria. The factory there remains the main production site, and the group says more than 800 people work at it.

The Felder Group sells under several brands. Hammer was launched in 1997, FORMAT4 followed in 2001 as the premium line, and Otto Mayer Maschinenfabrik, which builds vertical panel saws in Lombach, Germany, became part of the group in 2019. In 2023 the group added EMC Italia of Imola, a maker of wide belt sanders. Canadian buyers deal with the group's own subsidiary, Felder Group Canada.

The edgebander in our catalog is the Felder G 383, a compact single-sided machine with premilling and a corner rounding unit as standard. It takes edges up to 5 mm on workpieces 10 to 50 mm thick, and Felder presents it on its G 303 series page next to the G 363 and G 363R.
