About Baykal

Baykal Makine is a Turkish manufacturer of sheet metal working machinery, headquartered in the Işıktepe organised industrial zone in Nilüfer, Bursa. Its founder, Hakkı Baykal, started out making stoves, and the company traces its foundation to the early 1950s. Production runs in three Bursa factories with a combined 70,000 m² of floor space and, by the company's own figures, 650 employees including 80 engineers.

Press brakes and shears are its historic core, and Baykal has announced building its 30,000th press brake. The current range adds fiber laser cutters for sheet and tube, plasma cutting systems and storage towers that feed its lasers. Baykal says it has built machines to European CE safety rules since 1995. A German subsidiary, Baykal GmbH, serves European customers, and appointed dealers represent the brand in more than 100 countries.

We list two Baykal machines. The APHS 3110x200 is a 200-ton, 3.1 m CNC hydraulic press brake from the compact APHS line, shown with other makes on our press brakes page. The HGL 2606 is a 2.56 m hydraulic swing-beam shear for 6 mm mild steel, a practical size for smaller fabrication shops; compare it on the shears page and in swing-beam vs guillotine shears.

A good fit for

  • General fabrication shops bending 3 m parts in mild steel
  • Smaller shops that need a compact swing-beam shear for 6 mm sheet
  • HVAC, enclosure and bracket work that pairs a shear with a press brake
